The Garmin nüvi 255 3.5-inch Portable GPS Navigator is like the Garmin nüvi 205 3.5-inch Portable GPS Navigator, except it has maps of Alaska and Canada. Also it has text to speech, which means instead of just saying “Turn Left”, it says “Turn Left at Elm Street.” Text to speech used to be a feature you had to pay a lot more money for. Kind of like power windows in cars, text to speech has become almost de rigeur for GPS devices. Frankly, since a nüvi 255 sells for about $20 more than a nüvi 205, I would pay the extra money just for the text to speech.
